About Negombo.com

An independent guide to Sri Lanka’s gateway beach town, written for travellers.

Negombo.com exists because Negombo deserves better than to be a blur between a flight and a taxi. We wanted one clear, honest place where travellers could find out what is worth doing, where to stay and how to book it without wading through dozens of near-identical listings.

We are independent: no hotel, tour operator or tourism board owns or pays for this site, and we choose what to recommend on our own terms.

What we do

  • Research and compare tours, boat trips and day trips, using verified traveller reviews and published itineraries.
  • Explain the practicalities — airport transfers, seasons, money, safety and etiquette — in plain language.
  • Highlight hotels for every budget, from beach guesthouses to boutique retreats and airport hotels.
  • Keep information up to date and correct mistakes quickly when readers point them out.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links, mainly to GetYourGuide for tours and to Trip.com for hotels. If you book through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This keeps the site free and independent.

Commissions never decide what we recommend — we feature experiences we believe are good value and would suggest to friends.

Our editorial principles

  • Honesty first — including when a sight is overrated or a season is poor for the beach.
  • Respect for local communities, religion and wildlife.
  • No fake reviews, no paid placements disguised as recommendations.
  • Clear disclosure wherever affiliate links are used.

Have a correction, a tip or a question? We would love to hear from you — see our contact page.
